Barbara and Ted Seeley are excited to welcome Santa Fe's very own David Berkeley and Karina Wilson to their wonderful home in Chupadero, a scenic 30-minute drive north of Santa Fe on Sunday, June 30th. Doors will open at 6:00pm for light appetizers. You are invited to share with us your favorite finger food, as well as whatever you'd like to drink. Coffee, tea, and water will be provided. The concert will take place on the portal and seating will spill out onto the lawn. Considering our unpredictable northern NM weather, please bring layers. It could be hot at first and then get colder toward dusk. Sunscreen, hat, easy walking shoes, jacket, and a flashlight are helpful. Music will likely begin around 6:45 and should end by 8:30 pm, however jamming afterward around the fire will not be discouraged. There will be no intermission, but access to food and bathrooms will be easy during the concert. Address and directions will be provided in a confirmation email after purchasing your tickets.
As many of you know, David Berkeley’s gift as a songwriter is in finding light through darkness, the hope in the hardship. His gift as a performer is in weaving hilarious stories in between his heartbreaking songs. Berkeley has been called a “musical poet,” by the San Francisco Chronicle, “a double fantasy of Nick Drake and Donovan,” by Rollingstone.com, and praised by New York Times for his “lustrous, melancholy voice." He was a guest on This American Life, and he’s won many songwriting awards and honors including ASCAPs Johnny Mercer Songwriting Award.
David has released seven studio albums, one live album, and authored two books which pair with two of his records. Berkeley's latest release is his most intimate and important album to date, Oh Quiet World, written during the lockdown after his family escaped Spain due to Corona. It is an album everyone should hear, featuring what Berkeley does best: putting graceful poetry and deep philosophy to delicately beautiful melodies. He is also half of Trans-Atlantic theatrical duo sensation, Sons of Town Hall.
We can't wait for this show and very much hope you can join us.
